Iloilo Biochar Consulta

Project Description:
Iloilo will be the latest province where the sixth Biochar Consulta will be held. The Philippine Biochar Association team in partnership with United Nations World Food Program will conduct this consulta to orient various groups of people about the benefits of biochar and to assess the level of interest of the local community in starting their own biochar projects. Currently, PBiA is waiting for the reply of the availability of WFP on the dates of Dec. 2-4.
Clean River Zone Biochar Communities (CRZ)

Project Description:
The CRZ project aims to clean the Diliman Creek located in Quezon City, Philippines by using Mud balls containing Biochar. These mud balls, termed Bokashi Balls, houses thousand of microorganisms that are able to, clean pollutants, eliminate foul smelling odors, and reoxygenate small bodies of water. This project will involve local communities living close to the area to take part in forming the bokashi balls and cleaning the creek. It will also serve as a pilot project under the PBiA, GMA7 and PMSEA partnership. GMA7 gave the go sign for the project and a meeting was set on Nov.6 to review the drafted Memorandum of Agreement.
Rizal Biochar Facility

Project Description:
The Establishment of the Rizal Biochar Facility in the Palayan ng Bayan Complex will display the various biochar equipments and uses, mainly an off-grid gasifier that would be able to produce electricity to power small electronics and appliances such as lighting while having biochar as a byproduct. It would also host a display of the uses of biochar for agriculture, disaster preparedness and disaster response. The Facility will also serve as a training area for communities in Rizal province where farmers are able to learn the how-to’s of biochar. A quotation for a gasifier was recently done by Dr. Tadeo which will be further forwarded to Curiosity Design in the following days.
Casiguran Biochar Production Training

Project Area: Casiguran, Sorsogon
Project Description:
The objective of the project is to train the farmers in Casiguran Municipality specifically the barangays of Boton, Trece Martires, Sta. Cruz, Ponong, Rizal, San Juan, San Pascual and San Isidro, to produce and use biochar as a measure for Disaster Risk Reduction Management and Climate Change Adaptation, in partnership with the Casiguran Local Government. The primary activity was a two day training workshop on biochar production and utilization for disaster preparedness and climate change adaptation.
